Mats has been practicing Chinese Medicine since 1998, beginning with Shiatsu (Japanese bodywork) followed by acupuncture in 2000 and massage therapy in 2005.

Since 2003 he has specialized in the unique field of Chinese Medicine Ophthalmology, utilizing special acupoints in the hands and feet in order to primarily treat retinal diseases as well as dry eye/dry mouth.

In 2018 he combined his two passions, skiing and eye care,  and became PSIA-certified (Professional Ski Instructors of America) in the Adaptive discipline for instructing visually impaired skiers.

After over twenty years of practicing Chinese medicine in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mats closed his clinic in 2019 and accepted an acupuncture job in Stockholm. After a year in Sweden, and a year at The Marsh in Minnetonka, he relocated his clinic to Wayzata, Minnesota in 2024.
